Disney Cruise Packing List

Everything our family actually brings — organized by category

For the Kids

The stuff we actually use, not the stuff that sounded good in theory at 11pm when I was panic-ordering on Amazon.

White Noise Machine (travel size) Gracie is a light sleeper and the hallways on our ship were busy at 6am on port days — this is the one item I would never leave home without.
Find on Amazon
Stroller Fan / Clip-On Fan Embarkation, character meet lines, Castaway Cay — it is consistently warm and a battery-powered clip fan makes the wait so much more manageable for little ones.
Find on Amazon
Reusable Snack Pouches Rory goes through phases where he will only eat one specific thing, so I fill these with whatever that food is and keep them accessible without digging through the whole bag.
Find on Amazon
Kids' Rash Guards (UPF 50) Reapplying sunscreen on a squirming toddler every hour on the beach is a losing battle — a rash guard covers most of the work and gives me one less thing to stress about.
Find on Amazon
Waterproof Sandals Between the pool deck, the beach, and the splash pad, their feet are wet all day — a sandal that dries quickly and has a back strap so it actually stays on is worth buying before you go.
Find on Amazon
Swim Diapers (if still in diapers) The ship sells them but only in one brand and a limited size range — Rory runs small for his age, so I bring the size that actually fits him rather than guessing at the gift shop.
Find on Amazon
Portable Booster Seat / Travel High Chair The dining room high chairs are fine, but having a portable booster for port-day lunches or the casual pool deck spots means we are never scrambling for a seat that works for Rory.
Find on Amazon
Baby Carrier / Toddler Carrier When the stroller is more hassle than help — narrow ship corridors, gangways, crowded character meet areas — the carrier keeps Rory contained and my hands free.
Find on Amazon
Small Backpack for Kids Gracie is at the age where she wants to carry her own things, and giving her a little backpack with her sunscreen, water bottle, and a snack makes her feel like a real participant instead of cargo.
Find on Amazon
Glow Sticks / Light-Up Toys for Deck Parties The deck parties go late and the kids are running on pure excitement — glow sticks cost almost nothing and make them feel like they are part of the party in a way that is actually easy to manage in a crowd.

Castaway Cay beach on a Disney cruise

Beach & Port Days

What we bring to Castaway Cay, Lighthouse Point, and any port with sand and water.

Dry Bags (Waterproof) Soaked towels pressed up against a phone and a wallet is not a situation I want to be in on the walk back to the ship — two small dry bags keep the wet stuff separated from everything else.
Find on Amazon
Reef-Safe Sunscreen SPF 50+ Lighthouse Point in particular feels like a place where reef-safe matters, and I would rather buy it at home than pay ship prices or explain to my kids why we are not using the sunscreen we brought.
Find on Amazon
Beach Wagon / Collapsible Wagon Castaway Cay involves a real walk from the ship to the beach, and loading a collapsible wagon with towels, bags, and Rory when he refuses to walk another step is one of the smarter things we have done.
Find on Amazon
Snorkel Set (Ages 3+) Gracie is old enough now that she wants to see what is under the water, and having a properly sized kids' snorkel set means she is not struggling with something built for an adult face.
Find on Amazon
Water Shoes At Cozumel there was a rocky pier and Gracie was in her regular sandals and I spent twenty minutes carrying her so she would stop screaming about the rocks. Water shoes now. Always.
Find on Amazon
Mesh Beach Bag I brought a canvas tote on our first Castaway Cay day and carried about four pounds of wet sand home in it. A mesh bag fixes this. It also dries in about ten minutes so it does not ruin everything else in your bag on the walk back.
Find on Amazon
Pop-Up Shade Tent Rory has very fair skin and by late morning the Castaway Cay sun is serious — a pop-up tent means we can stay at the beach longer without me panicking about sun exposure on a toddler.

Stateroom Essentials

Small things that make a small room feel more livable for a family of four.

Over-the-Door Shoe Organizer The stateroom bathroom counter is tiny and the floor space disappears immediately — hanging an organizer on the bathroom door gives everyone's stuff a place and keeps the room from feeling chaotic.
Find on Amazon
Power Strip (No Surge Protector) Disney Cruise Line bans surge protectors but allows regular power strips — with two adults and two devices each plus the kids' gear, one outlet near the desk is not enough without a strip.
Find on Amazon
Magnetic Hooks (DCL Walls Are Magnetic) The walls on Disney ships are metal, so magnetic hooks actually stick — we use them for hanging bags, lanyards, and wet towels without putting a single hole in anything.
Find on Amazon
Night Light The staterooms go very dark with the curtains closed, which is great for sleeping but means the middle-of-the-night bathroom trip requires either waking everyone up or stubbing a toe — a small plug-in night light solves it.
Find on Amazon
Portable Sound Machine Even in a quieter stateroom there is hallway activity, ice deliveries, and the general hum of a ship — a portable sound machine means the kids sleep through it and so do I.

Health & Safety

The things you hope you will not need and are very glad to have when you do.

Motion Sickness Bands The Fantasy and the Wish are big ships and generally smooth, but there are days when the sea is less cooperative and having Sea-Bands on Gracie's wrists before she starts feeling off is much better than dealing with it after.
Find on Amazon
Children's Dramamine We have used this exactly once but I carry it every time because on the one crossing where the ship was rocking, I was very grateful I had it in the bag rather than at home.
Find on Amazon
First Aid Kit (Compact) Gracie treats any scrape as a genuine emergency and the fastest way to de-escalate is a band-aid applied immediately — a small kit with the basics means I am not sprinting to guest services for a bandage.
Find on Amazon
Ziplock Bags (Gallon + Quart) Wet swimsuits in a bag, snacks sorted by kid, dirty clothes separated from clean, evidence of whatever Rory got into at the buffet — ziplock bags solve a surprising number of ship problems.
Find on Amazon
Hand Sanitizer Wipes The ship has sanitizer stations everywhere but individual wipes mean I can handle hands on the move — at port, in line for a character meet, mid-snack on the beach without hunting for a dispenser.

Adult Carry-on

What goes in my bag on boarding day and stays accessible the whole trip.

Refillable Water Bottle The ship has water stations near the pool deck and at Castaway Cay. We bring one bottle per adult and refill constantly. On our Fantasy sailing Alan estimated he drank about a gallon a day just from the beach station because it was so hot. Staying ahead of it matters when you are hauling kids around in the Caribbean in July.

Packable Day Bag / Backpack I pack this flat at the bottom of my main bag and forget about it until port day. Then it becomes my everything bag: sunscreen, snacks, water bottle, Gracie's sandals, the random stuff that accumulates. It collapses down to basically nothing when we are back on the ship. I have used the same one for two years and it has held up fine.
Find on Amazon
Sunglasses The Caribbean sun reflecting off the water is relentless — I have lost too many cheap pairs to buy anything I would be heartbroken about, but I do need a pair that actually blocks UV.
Find on Amazon
Portable Charger / Power Bank Port days are long, the Kids Club app needs a working phone, and I have never once returned to the ship with full battery — a power bank is not optional for us anymore.
Find on Amazon
Tide to Go Pen Formal night is not formal if someone's dress has ketchup on it from the buffet, and with two small children there is always ketchup from somewhere — the Tide pen has saved two outfits that I can confirm.
